Psychology 1010-010

Katerina C. Salini, Spring Semester 2011

The Professor gave us a few choices in which assignment to complete. I chose to use the reflective "My
Significant Learning" option. In this assignment, I was to address one or more topics in the course of study that
I felt were personally significant, explain why it was significant, and explain what I had learned from it.

Reflection

Preparing this paper was a challenge in one main sense. As stated in the assignment, I simply had a hard
time choosing the right subject. This class to me is richly valuable, and has given me tools and perspectives
which enable me to see the world in a more clear way. Some of the most evident benefits of this class are
those which involve a certain topic, and that is the one I chose. The material itself has helped me perform
better in all my classes, and is richly personally applicable.

The topic is also something I recalled as a matter of importance in my Communication class, and the
scientific approaches to the material also was echoed in my Physics class. But the quest for exact truth and fact
behind the theories also led me to recall a favored theme of my Algebra class Professor. This paper, as well as
this class, has incorporated hints from all these other disciplines. That is a part of why this discipline fascinates
me.

This particular Signature Assignment only represents the smallest of samples from this class. It, in and of
itself is a reflective writing, and therefore it would be redundant to share all of the things I have learned from
writing it. Yet it has drawn to my attention how deeply complex the shortest chapter can be. Even if I spent
hours on the chosen topic, I still would only be scratching the surface of the discipline. This paper, alike the
class, has piqued my interest in this field of study, and I can't wait to learn more.
